Lana Bailey Profile
Lana Bailey, Data Management Specialist
I was born in Abilene, Texas, and split my youth living in Central Texas (Brownwood) and Louisiana (Natchitoches, Morgan City, and Pineville). While working for an insurance company in Austin, I joined the air force reserve and went on active duty to train as an aero-medical evacuation specialist. I attended 14 months of medical tech schools in various cities/states before returning to civilian work and a typical reserve drill schedule. Shortly thereafter, I transferred to a unit at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida and attended aircrew training to obtain my “wings.”
During my 9+ year enlistment in the air force, I attended the NCO Leadership Academy and obtained certifications as both instructor and evaluator for other medics and instructors seeking qualification on the C-130 aircraft. I am a veteran of Desert Shield / Desert Storm, having spent 6 months in theater in Saudi Arabia. I was honorably discharged in 1995 as a technical sergeant (E-6). I joined APRx in 2020, but I have been working with data and databases for more than 20 years.
What I do for enjoyment: When I have free time, I spend time with my terrific husband who takes wonderful care of me and our newly-teen-aged son (Gulp). We met at work nearly 20 years ago. I met him in a meeting, told my boss I thought he was “interesting,” and the rest just kind of took care of itself! I enjoy cooking, baking and making cocktails. We’ve also joined the ranks of COVID-19-induced birders. Since March, we’ve installed a bird feeder pole with multiple seed and nectar feeders, plus put in a solar-powered fountain bath for their enjoyment.
About working at American Pharmacies: I’m excited to be part of the APRx team! Laird Leavoy is a servant leader and encourages his entire team to approach people with that philosophy. That enables and empowers people, and those are very good things for employees and members.
